Netflix Processing Center

I'm a Netflix user and all my movies were delivered on time without any mess up from my queue list.
I personally thought there would be some kind of automation in delivering the DVDs because of their quality delivery.
To my surprise a reporter doing photojournalism, has gone and documented a process which shows that it is happening manually.
It is very tough to achieve sorting rate of 500 to 700 DVDs hourly.
I can tell that all look very dedicated to their work not only from the picture but also from their service personally.

  2. I had no idea it was manual. That's quite intersting. Especially when you think about how accurate they are. Wonder how one gets a job there...lol

  8. Doesn't surprise me at all. People are amazingly efficient especially when added with things like bar code scanners. Look at how the envelopes are put together. I think a fully automated system would shred the envelopes.

  9. i used to be with netflix for a long time then i switched to blockbuster online because they give you coupons that you can use at the local blockbuster store.

  10. I thought it was automated, too. Good for Netflix -- that company is single-handedly making renting movies easier, employing real humans and keeping the post office viable.
