Current Economic Crisis - Simplified

Jessica is the proprietor of a bar.
To increase sales, she decides to allow her customers (most of them are unemployed) to drink now and pay later.
She keeps track on their tabs.

Word gets around about this scheme, increasing numbers of customers flood into Jessica's bar.
Taking advantage, Jessica increases her prices for wine and beer.
Jessica's sales volume increases massively and there by her virtual profit.

Since she was buying more liquor than any other, she got good extended debt period from her suppliers.
A dynamic consultant at the bank recognizes Jessica's customer debts as valuable future assets, increases her borrowing limit.
Kim, Jessica's competitor astonished by the sales, introduces the same scheme in her bar to increase sales.

At the bank headquarter; experts transform these customer asset-backed securities into bonds like DRINKBONDS and PUKEBONDS.
These bonds are then traded on markets. No one really understands what these are and how they are guaranteed.
Nevertheless, as their prices continuously climb, the securities become top-selling items.

So no one was complaining, customers getting drink on debt.
Jessica getting drinks on credit from supplier.
Bank sold these securities off to market as bond and these bonds were being purchased and sold among themselves by investors.

Although the prices are still climbing, a risk manager (the spoil sport) of the bank wakes up suddenly.
He decides that the time has come to demand payment of the debts incurred by the drinkers at Jessica's bar.
However they cannot pay back the debts. Jessica cannot fulfill her loan obligations and claims bankruptcy.

DRINKBOND drop in price by 95%. PUKEBOND performs better, stabilizing in price after dropping by 85%.
The suppliers of Jessica's bar, having granted her generous payment due dates are now faced with tough situation.
Within a month, Jessica's supplier also claims bankruptcy.

Only the bank is saved by the government.
The required funds for this purpose are obtained by a tax levied on the non-drinkers.
Now Kim's bank is next in line asking for bailout from government.

Going Out Of Business Sales - Think Twice

Liquidation sales are not always a good deal because they are not designed to help the buyer save money.
"Doors Closing Forever" and "Everything must go" are catchy phrases to scam the consumer by creating a sense of urgency.

So what is going on behind a liquidation sale:
* Companies that are going out of business want to make maximum cash before closing for good.
* They hire liquidation experts, to organize the liquidation.
* Liquidation Company must detail inventory, set prices and discount prices, create warranties, run advertisements and more.
* It is not the store that is running this sale.
* Liquidation companies get in for a fixed amount or on a percentage basis.
Like all deals where middle men are involved, both parties are not going to get a fair deal.

Points To Remember While Buying In Liquidation Sale:
* Always compare the prices before buying, most items would be overpriced and discounted.
* All sales are final, so be sure with your purchase.
* Most items won't have proper warranty.
* Always pay with you credit or debit card. There is chance that your card company might help you in case of any dispute.
* Buy small merchandise and not like Camcorder or a Plasma TV.

Liquidation firms are not in the business of providing customer service to maintain lifelong customers.
They're in the business of selling whatever is left in a store as quickly as possible, at a price as consumers are willing to pay.
Once it's paid for and out the door, they'll likely do whatever it takes to keep merchandise from coming back into the store.

Suicide Agents Arrested

Four agents, all above 60 years old, from the "Final Exit Network" were charged in for assisting the suicide of a 58 year old man from Georgia.
The investigation began after the deceased man's family reported suspicious bustle in his death.
As part of the investigation, the investigators set up a undercover operation.

A detective becomes a member in "Final Exit Network" after paying $50 for the membership, to obtain their assistance with his suicide.
An "Exit Guide" was assigned to detective's case. The exit guide visited detective and instructed to purchase some items.
On the main day (February 25, 2009), the detective was visited by a "Senior Exit Guide" along with "Exit Guide".
The senior exit guide instructed the process and said after the member's death, all evidence will be removed from the scene.

Following this, investigators arrested Claire Blehr (76) of Atlanta, Thomas E. Goodwin (63) of Kennesaw & Dr. Lawrence D. Egbert (81) of Baltimore.
Nicholas Alec Sheridan (60) of Baltimore has been charged but not in custody. Investigators said more arrests could be made.

I've heard about lot of jobs but I wonder why they picked this "Hell Job" after their retirement.

Sneezing And Bless You

You would have come across many people saying "Bless You" while someone sneeze.
Have you ever wonder why they say it or did you ask them why?

Sources say they originated thousands of years ago.
"God Bless You" is attributed to Pope Gregory the Great, who uttered it in the 6th century during a plague epidemic.
Sneezing is an obvious symptom of one form of the plague during that time.

Some say that the heart stops momentarily when someone sneeze and his or her back to life is welcomed by saying "Bless You".
But health related articles say that heart wont stop during sneeze and it is a misconception.

Some believe that evil spirits use the sneeze as an opportunity to enter a person's body.
Saying "bless you" would stop this window of opportunity.

In general sneezing is a sign of cold or allergy and can be provoked in the sunlight or from smelling a strong odor.
Whatever may be the reason, we persist in the custom of saying "Bless You" out of common courtesy or habit.
